The room was large, bed comfortable, and the price was right. I chose it because it was very close to the train station. Just a few negatives about the room. It was always a struggle to open the door. The rug under the bed was shabby and looked dirty. There was no luggage rack. The only place to put my suitcase was on top of the chest of drawers. One of the drawers would not close. There aren't USB ports in the room--few places don't have them these days. The breakfast was okay--a bit lacking in variety. The bacon tasted really warmed over. The sausage the next day was better. There was no fresh fruit out one day but decent oranges the next.

The room was very nice, overall very clean, except the flooring which was fairly dirty; I wouldn't have known except that I spilled a little coffee on the floor and when I went to wipe it up the washcloth that I used was filthy. However, they take dogs, and that was important to us so I could Overlook that by just not walking barefoot. The view from the room overlooking Bushnell Park and the state capitol was amazing and the proximity to the XL Center and the train station was perfect. They also have a great breakfast buffet on the second floor. The only negative I can say about this place was that the parking was ridiculous; you literally are parking in what feels like a bomb shelter with tiny spaces and one way in and out. Tip: Park in the upper parking lot and don't pay for the hotel's parking; it's only a dollar more.

Dropped off my daughter at Trinity College this weekend. The hotel is good but dated. The beds were nice and clean. The lock to the fitness room wasn’t working but they got it open quickly. They need a guide for the TV. Breakfast was limited but good. Summer sausage and cinamon waffles were very tasty! Parking garage was good but it felt like driving in the basement. Website should say how much to expect for parking.

As we were parking our car, the fire alarms went off. It was a bit disconcerting to begin our stay, but we were impressed by how quickly the fire department arrived addressed tge guest-driven problem. The room didn't smell too good, but tge view of the capital building was spectacular. There aren't too many reasonably-priced eating places within a short walk of the hotel. We would probably stay there again.

Booked this hotel just because of the price and how close it was to Union Station. Reading the reviews here afterwards I wondered what I’d gotten myself into. Thankfully it was far from the horror written about on here. Hotel is a bit run down but clean. Room was nice, comfortable bed, view of the Capitol was FANTASTIC. Front desk staff were very friendly and attentive. No ‘homeless people in the lobby’ as some have mentioned on here. The surrounding area is not the nicest but it’s relatively quiet and not too far a walk to the nicer parts of Downtown Hartford. Felt perfectly safe at all times in and around the hotel. If you’re just needing a bed for the night in Downtown Hartford this hotel is fine. Would stay again.

We had a wedding down the street from the Capitol Hotel, and knowing nothing about the area, made a decision to stay there. We are very happy that we did. The front desk staff was very friendly and efficient. We had a King room with a beautiful view. Room was clean and the bed was comfy. Breakfast was tasty with a good variety. The only negative was the GFI in the bathroom didn't work. The plug kept falling out. Overall, very happy with our stay.
